What is Electrostatic Painting?

A lot of people we deal with have heard of Electrostatic Painting but really do not know exactly how it works. The majority of people have not heard of it at all. I am going to use this post to give everybody a little insight on the process and its benefits.

Electrostatic Painting is a on site protective coating application for metal surfaces. This process allows us to give metal objects a factory like finish right on site. The Object being painted gets a negative charge from a ground wire which is attached to the applicator. The paint is given a positive charge when it is atomized through the gun.The electric current in this procedure draws the atomized paint directly to the metal surface, giving off little to no overspray. The electrostatic nature of this process also causes the paint to wrap around round objects, and go into hard to reach areas. Pretty neat huh? Now that you know a little about how it works I will get on to tell you about why this process is beneficial for so many situations.

Now when I say we are able to deliver a factor finish on site, I mean we are able to go anywhere and spray on a heavy duty PMC (Protective and Marine coating) without overspraying everything in the surrounding area or completely fogging out an enclosed area. Now let me give you a few examples.

1. Metal Storefronts: Using this process we can paint the interior of a metal storefront on a business with the right kind of paint and without fogging the place out with tons of harmful overspray. We give these storefront a clean, Sprayed on finish identical to how it looked when it was new. In a lot of situations businesses or commercial property owners do not know about this option and they let somebody paint them with a brush and roller. Yikes! When this is done the finish product has terrible appearance filled with brush marks, and stipple and does not hold up well at all. When it comes to Painting Metal Storefronts Electrostatic is the only answer.

2. Balcony Railings: When Painting balcony railings we are able to go on site and refinish them with ease. Our Electrostatic process wraps around all sides of the spindles and gives a even, Uniform coat of paint to the whole surface without kicking a bunch of overspray into the air. No other painting application can do this. Property owners, and condominium associations that do not know about this also often let some painter do them with a brush and roller. Again, Yikes! The railings will now no longer have the uniform finish they once had, They will be filled with sloppy brush and roller marks, and will not likely hold up long at all.

These are just 2 examples of how our process is beneficial for certain objects. Stay tuned in and we will post weekly examples of how the process works, and how

this process could possibly benefit you. Thanks!
